Chair Information

This year, SCIMUN 2026 has chosen the theme "Minds in Motion," encouraging delegates to engage with the fast-changing world around us. The theme highlights the importance of adaptability, innovation, and bold thinking in the face of emerging technologies, shifting global dynamics, and uncharted frontiers. From political instability to breakthroughs in science and space, delegates are invited to explore ideas that will shape the future of humanity and rethink what progress means for generations to come.

Bryan Hew 

Theo Ryu

Bryan Hew, a senior from QSI Shenzhen, will be taking on the role of a Chair for the Security Council committee at the SCIMUN XI conference. Having chaired twice and delegated once in the SCIMUN conference before, he feels confident and eager to take on the role once again, especially because this will be his final SCIMUN conference. While chairing, Bryan will look for delegates not only with superb speeches, but those who also have fantastic, diplomatic group working abilities. But most importantly, he is definitely thrilled at the prospect of meeting the SC delegates and will look forward to a successful and enriching final SCIMUN conference experience. 

Theo Ryu is from South Korea and is a senior at Shenzhen Academy of International Education. Since participating in his first MUN as a freshman, he has won three Best Delegate awards and chaired at four conferences, including in the Security Council at the previous SCIMUN conference. He also served as the vice president of the student union, founder and president of the International Relations club, and leader of the school MUN team at SAIE. Theo will continue to guide the conference flow this year in the Security Council and looks forward to working together with passionate delegates to create an inspirational experience.

Simran Tilwani 

William Kou 

William Kou, a 17-year-old, will be taking the position of chair for the World Health Organization (WHO) in the United Nations Diploma Programme at the SCIMUN XI conference. William is an ambitious, passionate, and creative student leader, and the traits that he possesses have earned him numerous honors and respect in and out of QSI. He is currently the president of National English Honors Society (NEHS) and is recognized for his proficiency in the English language and the exemplary leadership skills he possesses. William’s passion for MUN granted him the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with other members of the committee and establish a consensus among delegates. He is looking forward to seeing the elaborated approaches the delegates are willing to take to address the underlying issues presented in the world today in the SCIMUN XI conference. 

Simran Tilwani, a dedicated 17-year-old, will be assuming the role of Chair for the World Health Organization at the SCIMUN XI conference. Simran's proven expertise and command of Model UN procedure can be attributed to their extensive involvement in the program, marking this as their fourth year as a part of SCIMUN. Simran has already demonstrated their exceptional leadership capabilities, having previously served as a chair at the SCIMUN X conference. Primarily, this prior experience as a chair imparts them with invaluable insights and a refined skill set crucial for effectively steering the WHO committee. Furthermore, Simran possesses an unwavering passion for the critical realms of global public health and medical diplomacy. Anticipating the conference with fervent enthusiasm, Simran eagerly looks forward to witnessing delegates who exemplify the virtues of confidence, leadership, and, above all, teamwork.

Lily Jang

Hello everyone! My name is Lily Jang, and I am currently a sophomore at QSI Shenzhen (QSIS). This conference marks my sixth time participating in MUN and my second time joining as a chair. I would be serving as an Assistant Chair at the WHO in SCIMUN XI. I’ve been delegated to several different committees, such as Health, ECOFIN, and UNCCPCJ, so I know many different styles of debates and conference environments. Through these diverse experiences, I will try my best to support all the delegates and make the committee a comfortable place for everyone. Outside of MUN, I love traveling, playing and walking with puppies, and listening to music. If anyone feels confused and needs assistance, please feel free to ask! 

Kyuwon (Paul) Park 

Richard Lee

Greeting! This is Richard Lee from Singapore, and he is excited to serve as the President Chair of the Human Rights Council at SCIMUN XI. Currently a sophomore at QSI International School of Shenzhen, Richard has been involved in MUN since the age of 13. He has been a delegate and award winner across various committees, which has strengthened his interest in global affairs and collaboration skills. Outside of MUN, he is an active member of the Student Council, Honor Societies, and multiple clubs. As a chair, he aims to create a fair and engaging environment where all delegates feel that their ideas are valued. He looks forward to all the excellent speeches and insightful resolutions and wishes all the delegates the best of luck in preparing them.

Maria Figueiredo 

Maria Figueiredo will be taking the role of Assistant Chair in HRC for SCIMUN XI. Maria is currently a sophomore in Avenues the world school Shenzhen and has been doing MUN for 3 years. Maria has been living abroad in China for 9 years and moved from Brazil when she was 6. With a long time living abroad, she has been able to experience the world from a 3rd person perspective and taken her insight into diplomacy in MUN. As SCIMUN XI approaches, Maria wishes for delegates to reach their highest in diplomacy and weave through the world today to create powerful long-lasting solutions.  

Welcome to the Human Rights Council! My name is Paul Park, and I am honored to serve as a

Chair for SCIMUN XI. I am currently a high school student with extensive experience

participating in and leading Model United Nations conferences, including roles as both delegate

and chair. I have strong interest in finance and global politics & affairs, and I enjoy the art of

debating. Not counting junior-year MUN conferences, I have been to 6 conferences, mostly

being the main submitter of a block. I love MUN because it is not just a place to debate, which I

love, but also it is a place where you can socialize and meet new people with different

perspectives, ideals, and backgrounds. Outside of MUN, I am a huge lover of Sports. I love

playing soccer, I even play it every Friday after school. I also love watching F1, Tennis, and

other sports too. I look forward to fostering a productive, engaging, and respectful debate for all

Timmy Zhang

Mischka Kantharia 

Timmy Zhang is currently a junior at the QSI International School of Shenzhen and will be assuming the role of president chair in the committee of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Moving into his third year in MUN, he has participated in several MUN conferences previously as delegate and received great spiritual fulfillment and multiple awards during this time. Having spent his first ever conference at the UNDP committee of SCIMUN, he possesses a profound enthusiasm on global issues that threaten the development of countries and the prosperous lives of their citizens. As he prepares for his first chair experience in SCIMUN XI, he is most excited to guide debates led by delegates that demonstrate a diplomatic understanding of the agenda and the capacity for innovative and practical resolutions.  

I’m Mischka Kantharia, and I’m eighteen years old. Having grown up travelling, I’ve learned to appreciate new perspectives, cultures, and conversations, all of which shaped who I am today. When I’m not exploring new places, you’ll usually find me at the piano or spending time with the people I love, talking, laughing, and cherishing the little moments in life. I’ve been a part of MUN for five years now; first as a delegate, where I discovered my passion for diplomacy and public speaking, and later as a chair, where I’ve had the privilege of guiding committees and mediating thoughtful debates. This year, I’m excited to chair UNDP and I look forward to seeing active participation from all delegates as we collaborate to envision a better, more equitable world.

Siyeon (Elva) Lee

My name is Siyeon (Elva) Lee, and I am from Korea. I am currently a sophomore at Quality School International Shenzhen (QSIS).  I have developed a strong passion for the Model United Nations over the past few years. I have attended four MUN conferences so far, three last year and two this year, and each experience has helped me grow as a delegate, improving my skills in debate, research, and critical thinking. I am interested in global issues and enjoy engaging in discussions that challenge my perspective and encourage collaboration. Outside of MUN, I enjoy staying active and playing various sports, which help me stay energized and focused. I also like organizing activities and events, as it allows me to plan, collaborate, and bring people together. Overall, I am excited to chair this committee and help delegates share their ideas while learning from each other. 

Billy Chan

Leo Park

Billy Chan, a junior at QSI Shenzhen, will be assuming the role of President Chair for the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD) at the SCIMUN XI conference. Now in his third year of MUN, the second year of chairing SCIMUN, Billy brings a wealth of experience from his time as both an award-winning delegate and a distinguished chair. As the chair of UNCSTD, he possesses a profound interest in how scientific advancement and political frameworks intersect to address the world's most pressing issues. As he presides over SCIMUN XI, he is most eager to engage with delegates who demonstrate a thorough grasp of their national policies and a genuine commitment to crafting innovative, sustainable solutions for the committee's agenda. 

Leo Park will be serving as the President Chair for the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD) at SCIMUN XI. Currently a grade 11 student at Utahloy International School Zengcheng (UISZ), Leo Park has built a strong foundation in diplomacy through years of active participation in conferences such as U2NESCO, SCIMUN, SISMUN, and PACKMUN. His delegate achievements include Best Delegate and Honorable Mentions, earned across committees ranging from Human Rights to the United Nations Development Programme. Leo Park has also taken on key leadership roles in MUN, including President Chair of the Education Committee, Co-chair of the World Health Assembly, and President Chair of the G20. He is set to serve as Deputy Secretary General in 2025 and Secretary General in 2026 at U2NESCO. At SCIMUN XI, Leo looks forward to a committee filled with thoughtful, constructive exchanges and creative ideas.
